The Upper stretch of Fryingpan River in Colorado is 5.7 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V section. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip. There are no other stretches to paddle along Fryingpan River than the Upper stretch. The starting point is not too far
from Edwards, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The scenic beauty of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream will make you feel great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here
you'll find a large number of good rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The wild scenery of the Sawatch Range is great. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people.
Briefly about the general area: Going for a hike along the Sawyer Lake Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity; Lime Creek Canyon is a splendid place to spend some time. That right there is
heaps of enjoyable things already but it goes on, the Sawatch Range has it all. Hiking along the Chapman Trail is brilliant fun. Fryingpan River is pretty arid commonly; July is when you get the most rain here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
Through the summertime months, highs frequently are in the 80's at Fryingpan River. During the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. All through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows during the winter for Fryingpan River tend to be in the 0's.
