Colorado whitewater, -blank-

Eagle county, Taylor Creek to Basalt section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS IV     5 miles
This section of -blank- in Colorado is 5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV section. The nature scenery of Eagle County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Edwards, as you can see on the road map further down. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers
for that. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often tougher than in other states, so if you're
visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too.

Briefly

about the general area:
You can never get enough of the great skiing at Buttermilk; nearby you hit upon Box Canyon which is a nice location to explore. There is a good hiking trail in the vicinity of -blank- called the Blue Creek Trail, and no need to travel far to go to attention-grabbing stuff like Seven Castles. Coming to this river is always a good idea. A short visit to Whitnach Falls is always worthwhile; if you're visiting from Basalt, you won't be the only one. It is very arid here at -blank- commonly. The month with most of the rain is April while June is typically the driest month.
