The starting location is a reasonable drive from Edwards, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. There are no other stretches to paddle along Gore Creek than the East Vail Exit (I-70) to Eagle River stretch. When you're paddling down a Park Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way
too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Getting some good exercise and just
being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. This section of Gore Creek is 9.2 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Colorado and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Gore Creek all through the summer are in the 70's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the
40's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Gore Creek dip into the 0's. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Park Range. Go for a hike on the Two Elk Trail. Good hiking is available
along the Lost Lake Trail, and Vail has perfect slopes and a friendly staff. Gore Creek gets very little precipitation; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.
