The scenic beauty of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. The average Colorado whitewater     rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Gunnison River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Almont to Blue Mesa Reservoir section is the only one. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. If you're here, you might as well visit Blinberry Gulch. For the duration of the long summer days highs here at Gunnison River reach the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 30's.
