The 1/4 mile above confluence with Eagle River stretch of Homestake Creek in Eagle County is 0.25 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class V section. This is a very short stretch so it's not like you're gonna     spend hours on the river in one stretch. When you're paddling down a Sawatch Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. Homestake Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the 1/4 mile above confluence with Eagle River stretch is the only one. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Edwards, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. At Homestake Creek you don’t see much   rain; July is the month that gets the most rain; February is when it's the driest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Homestake Creek. Summer night lows plunge down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Homestake Creek are in the 0's. Going for a hike along the Fall Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this region, and while you're here you can take a hike along the Two Elk Trail.
