This section of Homestake Creek in Eagle County is 0.25 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This is the only paddling stretch along Homestake Creek. The wild scenery of the Sawatch Range is great. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The put-in location
is a reasonable drive from Edwards, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but do book a room before you come because it is
a very popular destination. The wonderful Eagle County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Briefly about the general area: If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Sawatch Range. While you're here at Homestake Creek you can take a hike along the Fall Creek Trail, and if the weather is brilliant, you can go for a hike along the Two Elk Trail.
All through the warm days of summer here at Homestake Creek, high temperatures regularly reach the 70's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 20's; nighttime lows at Homestake Creek during the wintertime mostly fall into the 0's.
It is very waterless here at Homestake Creek ordinarily; during the month of July you get the most rain around here while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
