If you're coming from Grand Junction it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's good length for a morning trip. You might be into whitewater     rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other rivers.
