The natural beauty of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels
are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch of Lake Creek in Colorado is 9 miles long and it is classified as a class V+ section by American Whitewater. This stretch is mid length, you can easily run it on
an afternoon. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Whitewater paddling here in the Sawatch Range is a great experience. The Graham Gulch to 1/4 mi east of Monitor Gulch section is the only paddling section along Lake Creek.
Briefly about the general area: You truly have to adore the Sawatch Range. High temperatures at Lake Creek all through the summertime are in the 70's, and the night is fairly chillier of course, frequently in the
40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Lake Creek temperatures descend to the 0's. Lake Creek is mostly a rather waterless place; the wettest month of the year is usually August, that's the one that rains the most, and
the driest of the months is February. A magnificent site to take a look at in the vicinity of Lake Creek is Hayden Gulch, and going for a hike on the Mount Elbert Trail is always a pleasant adventure.
