The nature scenery of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. Whitewater paddling here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains is a great experience. The starting point is not too far from Durango, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting
or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are no other sections to paddle along
Lime Creek than the 1st Gorge section. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This section of Lime Creek is 3 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
