The natural beauty of Pitkin/Garfield County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. No shortage of good hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. On this section you do get some distance, you can easily run it on an afternoon. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The rivers for
whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Colorado are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. A bit of exercise and just
hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here.
Briefly about the general area: Roaring Fork is pretty dry ordinarily; all through October this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
