The Black Bridge to Veltus Park stretch of Roaring Fork in Pitkin/Garfield County is 6.2 miles long and is a class II+(III) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Black Bridge to Veltus Park section is one of them. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often more difficult     than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
