  Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Pitkin County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. The Lower Woody Creek Bridge to Route 82 Bridge section of Roaring Fork in Colorado is 6.2 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. There's camping
    available near Roaring Fork. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. There arenít any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do
book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Lower Woody Creek Bridge to Route 82 Bridge section is just one of them. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. If you're coming from Edwards it's not  
a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The river winds through the Sawatch Range and you get great scenery.

Briefly about the general area:
While you're here at Roaring Fork you will meet lots of folks from nearby Snowmass, and you'll never forgive yourself if you donít go skiing at Buttermilk while you're here. Be careful coming to the Sawatch Range, you might not ever wanna go home again. Going for a hike on the Blue Creek Trail is always a good adventure, and a delightful place to take a look at is Cerise Gulch. If you come to this river you will have a good time for sure.
