This stretch of Roaring Fork is 6.2 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Colorado you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. If you're coming from Edwards it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. you'll find a large number of good rivers. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here.
The Lower Woody Creek Bridge to Route 82 Bridge section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. There's camping available near Roaring Fork. Whitewater paddling here in the Sawatch Range is a great experience. The natural beauty of Pitkin County and the water flowing gracefully down Roaring Fork make the trip here worthwhile.
