The natural beauty of Pitkin County and the water flowing gracefully down Roaring Fork are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're     all set. If you're coming from Edwards it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This stretch is mid length, suitable for an afternoon trip. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Briefly about the general area: Trentaz Gulch is a great location to stop at nearby, and why not head up to Buttermilk and strap some skis to your feet. Roaring Fork is pretty dried out generally; the wettest month of the year is typically April, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest of the months is   June. Through the days of summer at Roaring Fork highs are generally in the 80's with night lows in the 40's. Through the winter the highs are commonly in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Roaring Fork.
