The beautiful scenery of Pitkin County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Edwards, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks. Bridge section of Roaring Fork in Pitkin County is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV+ section. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons
to come. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. There's camping available near Roaring Fork.
