Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The Aspen Music School to Slaughterhouse Bridge section of Roaring Fork is 2 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class IV+ section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Pitkin County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far.     This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. This is a pretty short section so better bring some good walking shoes. No shortage of good hotels, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. Briefly about the general area: Roaring Fork is pretty dried out frequently; during the month of July you get the most rain around here; the driest month is February. Near Roaring Fork you locate Slaughterhouse Gulch which is a brilliant location   to visit; why not head up to Aspen Mountain and strap some skis to your feet. Through the long summer days here at Roaring Fork, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while Roaring Fork night low temperatures during the winter are in the 0's.
