The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Seven Castles to Basalt 7-11 stretch is     just one of them. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Through the winter highs   are in the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the winter at Roaring Fork temperatures plunge to the 0's. Roaring Fork gets very little rainfall; most of the rain falls during April; the driest month of the year is June.
