If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The Weller Lake to Difficult Campground section of Roaring Fork in Colorado is 3.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V+ section. The put-in is not too far from Edwards, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The wonderful Colorado scenery and the playfulness
of the water have people coming here. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There's camping available near Roaring Fork. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area
you'll find lots of paddling places. The Weller Lake to Difficult Campground stretch is one of many paddling stretches in this river system. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will have you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: If you like skiing, you're in luck; Snowmass is next to Roaring Fork. Roaring Fork is a location that is reasonably arid usually; the
month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. High temperatures at Roaring Fork throughout the long summer days are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Roaring Fork sink into the 0's.
