The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Weller Lake to Difficult Campground section is just one of many. This is a short paddling stretch so no need to bring     snacks. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. The put-in location is a short drive from Edwards, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: During the warmest time of the year here at Roaring Fork, high temperatures typically get into the 80's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. Highs through the winter are generally in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Roaring Fork temperatures drop to the   0's. A day on the slopes of Snowmass is just what you need. Not much rain falls here at Roaring Fork; throughout the month of July you get the most rain around here; the driest of the months is February.
