The Shoe and Stocking Creek Trailhead to Bridge below Quarry section of Rock Creek in Routt County is 7 miles     long and is according to American Whitewater a class V+ section of whitewater. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The river winds through the Park Range and you get great scenery. Rock Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Shoe and Stocking Creek Trailhead to Bridge below Quarry section is the only one. Briefly about the general area: At Rock Creek you don’t see much precipitation; throughout July this area sees the   most rain, and the driest month is February. Hiking along the Tepee Creek Trail is wonderful fun. At Rock Creek throughout the summertime highs are in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 40's.
