Buttonrock Preserve to CR 80 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV(V) 1.8 miles
The Buttonrock Preserve to CR 80 stretch of Saint Vrain Creek - North is 1.8 miles long and has been rated as a class IV(V) section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Boulder County and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back
to put-in a few times. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The put-in is not too far from Boulder, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The wild scenery of the Front Range is great. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you'll find lots of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: Saint Vrain Creek - North is ordinarily a reasonably arid spot; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain while January is the month with
