The take out after Mesa Canyon is where Trujillo Rd gets close to the river on R Left @ 37. 125988°, -107. 051072°

The nature scenery of Archuleta County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from
near and far. The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. Lodging is available near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you
might end up sleeping in your car. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good places for that around here. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Pagosa to Trujillo Road section is one of them. The San Juan and Jemez Mountains scenery is wonderful. The campgrounds here at San Juan River are pretty good. This section of San Juan River in Colorado is 13.4 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-III section. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack
your camp stove. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here.
