The Pagosa to Trujillo Road section of San Juan River is 13.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-III section of whitewater. The wonderful Colorado scenery and the water flowing gracefully down San Juan River are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. The beautiful San Juan Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado
is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove.
No need to look hard for hotels, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Pagosa to Trujillo Road stretch is one of them.
