CLASS III 16 miles

The nature scenery of Colorado and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The beauty of the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains is a great plus for this river. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Norwood Bridge to Green Truss Bridge stretch is one of them. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking
there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. This stretch is long enough for an overnight
trip if you take your time, so why not pack your camp stove too. If you're coming from Montrose it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving.
