The starting point is not too far from Montrose, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. The campgrounds here at San Miguel River are pretty good. A bit of exercise and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. The wild scenery of the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains is great. The Silverpick     Road to Fall Creek Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. The Silverpick Road to Fall Creek Road section of San Miguel River is 7.3 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable for an afternoon trip. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
