Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often tougher than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. The scenic beauty of Park County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There's camping available near South Platte River. This is a pretty decent length section, good for a one day paddling     trip. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling places. Whitewater paddling here in the Front Range is a great experience. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. Briefly about the general area: At South Platte River through the summertime highs are in the 70's, and throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at South Platte River. But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Front   Range. Not much rain falls here at South Platte River; the wettest month of the year is typically July, that's the one that rains the most while January is regularly the driest month. Don't leave South Platte River without first going for a hike along the Longwater Trail; Hackett Gulch is a tremendous place to spend some time.
