The nature scenery of Park County and the playfulness of the water make the trip here worthwhile. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The average Colorado whitewater     rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. Whitewater paddling here in the Front Range is a great experience. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. South Platte River is a location that is rather dried out regularly; most of the rain falls through July; the driest month of the year is January.
