The put-in is not too far from Denver-Aurora, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these     hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. The Front Range scenery is wonderful. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your camping stuff. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Colorado is often tougher than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The Deckers to confluence with North Fork section of South Platte River in Jefferson/ Douglas County is 12 miles long and it is classified as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Briefly about the general area: Nearby Dell Gulch is a great location to go if you're at South Platte River. It is very dried up here at South Platte River mostly;   the month with most of the rain is May, and the driest month of the year is January. For the duration of the summertime months at South Platte River temperatures are commonly in the 80's while nighttime lows are usually in the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 40's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at South Platte River.
