  If you're coming from Denver-Aurora it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This section of South Platte River in Colorado is 1 miles long
    and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. The beautiful scenery of Colorado and the water flowing gracefully down South Platte River will make you feel great. Great exercise and a chance to spend some
time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. There are plenty of other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around  
here you'll find a large number of good spots. This is a very short section so no need to bring snacks. The beauty of the Front Range is a great plus for this river.

Briefly about the general area:
You must positively visit Eagle Rock while you're here at South Platte River, and wonderful hiking is available along the Long Hollow Trail. So many cool things in the Front Range, just remarkable. Russell Gulch is close to South Platte River and is without doubt a perfect place to take a look at; you certainly ought to explore Chatfield Lake State Recreation Area since you're here. This river is a great place to visit.
