CLASS III-IV     7 miles
  This stretch of South Platte River - North Fork in Colorado is 7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-IV section. The starting location is a short drive from Denver-Aurora, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The beautiful scenery of Jefferson County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle,
    it's good length for a morning trip. There are plenty of other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is
a very popular destination. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while  
are sure to keep you coming back for more. The river winds through the Front Range and you get great scenery.

Briefly about the general area:
Have a good hiking adventure along the Rolling Creek Trail, and Chair Rocks is an interesting spot to check out while at South Platte River - North Fork. Just can't get enough of the Front Range. Roxborough State Park is a fine place to go if you're at South Platte River - North Fork, and there are plenty of people from Buffalo Creek here. This river is so good. Don't leave South Platte River - North Fork without visiting Chatfield Lake State Recreation Area, and if you desire a little side journey, try Lion Gulch.
