The natural beauty of Colorado and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. This section of Taylor River in Gunnison County is 18 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-IV section. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater     rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The campgrounds here at Taylor River are pretty good. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Briefly about the general area: If the weather is glorious here at Taylor River, you can go for a hike along the Onemile Cattle Trail; you could always look at Big Gulch. For the period of the warmest time of the year at Taylor River temperatures are commonly in the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 30's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 20's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Taylor River. On a brilliant day at Taylor River you can take a hike along   the Summerville Trail. Taylor River gets very little rainfall; through the month of December you get the most snow around here; June is when it's the driest.
