  The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Edwards, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Colorado and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Getting your paddling muscles
    activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. This section
of White River - North Fork is 20 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Mirror Lake to South Fork stretch is just one of them.

White River - North Fork is
 
right by the Oyster Lake Trail; do take a hike on the Bailey Lake Trail. All through the warmest time of the year at White River - North Fork temperatures are frequently in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at White River - North Fork temperatures sink to the 0's. It is very dehydrated here at White River - North Fork usually. October is when you get the most rain here while January is frequently the driest month.
