The average Colorado whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This stretch of Woods Creek in Colorado is 0.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class V section. The wonderful Clear Creek County scenery and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The put-in location is a short drive from Silverthorne, as you can see on the road map
further down. This stretch is very short so no need to bring snacks. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The wild scenery of the Park Range is great. Woods Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling
sections, the Reservoir to Confluence with West Fork Clear Creek section is the only one. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: The Sevenmile Ski Trail is a great hiking trail near Woods Creek, and a great spot close by is Vasquez Pass. It is very arid here at Woods Creek commonly; throughout the month of July you get
the most rain around here; the driest month is January. Throughout the days of summer, highs typically are in the 70's at Woods Creek, and the overnight is a little chillier of course, ordinarily in the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and through the dark
hours in the wintertime at Woods Creek temperatures plunge to the-10's. This spot, the Park Range, has so much outdoors exciting stuff. On a magnificent day at Woods Creek you can take a hike along the Mount Nystrom Trail.
