The scenic beauty of Moffat County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch of Yampa River is 4.8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV(V) section. reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. The 85 Road to Deer Lodge Park Road section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.
| A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The campgrounds here at Yampa River are pretty good. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip.
