Moffat county, Deerlodge Park to Split Mountain Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-III(IV)     71 miles
The wonderful Moffat County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Yampa River make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Colorado are harder than the national norm, so better not forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The Deerlodge Park to Split Mountain Campground section of Yampa River is 71 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III(IV) section. The Deerlodge Park to Split Mountain Campground stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system.
A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. Some
people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers.

River. Throughout the moonlight hours it's usually in the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and night lows at Yampa River through the winter ordinarily plunge into the 0's.
