The Paper Mill Road to Housatonic River stretch of East Aspetuck River in Connecticut is 4 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting some good exercise and a chance
    to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Paper Mill Road to Housatonic River stretch is the only paddling stretch along East Aspetuck
River. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's perfect for a one day trip. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The put-in location is a short drive from Torrington, as you can see on the road map further down.

Briefly about the general area:
At East Aspetuck River during the summer highs are in the 80's, and the nighttime is a tad colder of course, mostly in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at East Aspetuck
 
River dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. East Aspetuck River gets a normal amount of rain; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month of the year is January.
