Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. The starting point is     not too far from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling rivers. This is the only paddling stretch along Hammonasset River. This is a pretty short section so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch of Hammonasset River is 2 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Briefly about the general area: A day at lovely Circle Beach next to Hammonasset River is a perfect thing to do, and a tour to Hammonasset Beach State Park invigorates the soul. For the period   of the summer months at Hammonasset River temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Hammonasset River. Hammonasset River regularly gets much rainfall; all through April this area sees the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Time spent at East Rive Beach in the vicinity of Hammonasset River is always pleasant, and Chatfield Hollow State Park is a brilliant place to have a look at.
