The natural beauty of Connecticut and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Connecticut you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so you'd better keep in mind that a large number of
rivers in this state are quite easy. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. This section is quite short so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before
you come because it is a very popular destination. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. The Summer Hill Road to Green Hill Road stretch of Hammonasset River is 2 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater.
