This stretch of Hammonasset River is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II section. The put-in location is a short drive from Hartford-West Hartford-East Hartford, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Connecticut and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night,
and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This is the only paddling section along Hammonasset River. A good
workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good spots for that around here. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more forgiving, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners.
