The below Falls Village Hydro Plant section of Housatonic River in Connecticut is 0.5 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Litchfield County scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. If you're coming from Torrington it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, please print out a copy of the road map
further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is a very short section so better bring some good walking shoes. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The average Connecticut
whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are good for beginners. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

For the period of the moonlight hours it's usually in the 50's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's while Housatonic River nighttime low temperatures all through the wintertime are in the 0's.
