The put-in location is a short drive from Torrington, as you can see on the road map further down. The Falls Village Hydro to Kent stretch of Housatonic River in Litchfield County is 22.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III section. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit easier to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here
are less demanding. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Falls Village Hydro to Kent stretch is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it
is a very popular destination. The beautiful scenery of Litchfield County and the playfulness of the water have people coming here. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag.
