The Bulls Bridge Dam to Gaylordsville section of Housatonic River is 2.6 miles long and has been rated as a class IV section by American Whitewater. If you're coming from Torrington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Connecticut is often easier than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. is one of them. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature are great
reasons to come. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of spots for that. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The wonderful Litchfield County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Housatonic River make the trip here worthwhile. This is a bit of a short stretch so no need to bring snacks.
