This section of Natchaug River in Connecticut is 0.9 miles long and has been rated as a class II-IV section by American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Tolland/ Windham County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. If you're coming from Willimantic it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road
map further down the page. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Connecticut is often easier than elsewhere,
so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less demanding. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other rivers. Natchaug River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the England Road to Route 198 stretch is the only one. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This section is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
