The starting location is a short drive from Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Connecticut scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The
Bridge in Cannondale to Mouth section of Norwalk River in Connecticut is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class II section by American Whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before
you come because it is a very popular destination. There are no other sections to paddle along Norwalk River than the Bridge in Cannondale to Mouth section.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Norwalk River commonly tend to be in the 80's with nighttime lows in the 60's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Norwalk River temperatures fall to the 20's. A tour to Marvin Beach next to Norwalk River is always a splendid idea, and the friendly folks of Bridgeport-Stamford-Norwalk
like to hang out nearby. If you want to hit the beach, Saint John Beach is nearby. Norwalk River gets a large amount of water; the month with most of the rain is August, and February meanwhile is the driest month.
