The Below Route 6 stretch of Quinebaug River in Connecticut is 0.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. No need to look hard for hotels, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend     hours on the river in one stretch. The scenic beauty of Windham County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The starting point is not too far from Willimantic, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The Below Route 6 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Quinebaug River. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Briefly about the general area: Summertime at Quinebaug River comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and all through the night it cools down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Quinebaug River dipping down into the 10's during winter nights. A journey to Nashawaug right next door to Quinebaug   River is always a great idea; you'll almost certainly meet some people from Willimantic here. The high level of rain makes Quinebaug River a rather wet place; during November this area sees the most rain; February is when it's the driest.
