THe fishermen aren't nice here, especially in the Fly fishing area, we caught a lot of heck from them last year. MAde the trip no fun, I won't return. Try the Farmington instead....it's just bigger withmore room for everyone. Says Kaykay2

Hartford it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Old Route 2 to covered bridge at Highway 16 stretch of Salmon River is 4.6 miles long and is
according to American Whitewater a class II section of whitewater. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. The rivers for
whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often easier than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very demanding. There are no other sections to paddle along Salmon River than the Old Route 2 to covered bridge at
Highway 16 section.
Briefly about the general area: Salmon River is a wet place that gets a lot of rainfall; through the month of May you get the most rain around here, and July meanwhile is the driest month. All through the warm months at Salmon River temperatures are
usually in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 60's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Salmon River plunge into the 10's.
