The beautiful scenery of Connecticut and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This stretch of Shepaug River in Litchfield County is 6.5 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. You can
pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it
on an afternoon. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The starting location is a short drive from Torrington, as you can see on the road map further down. This is the only paddling section along Shepaug River.
