If you're coming from Torrington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more forgiving, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The campgrounds here at Still River are pretty good. Some people
prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. The scenic beauty of Litchfield County and the playfulness of the water beats anything. There are no
other stretches to paddle along Still River than the Above Sandy Brook stretch. The Above Sandy Brook section of Still River in Litchfield County is 0.1 miles long and it is classified as a class V section by American Whitewater. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.

the days of summer highs here at Still River reach the 80's while overnight lows are frequently in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's while Still River night low temperatures through the wintertime are in the 10's. Still River gets much water; the wettest month of the year is regularly August, that's the one that rains the most while January is commonly the driest month.
