The starting location is a short drive from Poughkeepsie-Newburgh-Middletown, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Tenmile in Connecticut is 4.2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-III section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Connecticut are easier than the national norm, so better not forget that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. There aren’t
any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The nature scenery of Litchfield County and the cool fresh water will make you feel great. The South Dover NY to Gaylordsville
Ct section is the only paddling section along Tenmile. Great exercise and spending some quality time in nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that.
