  The scenic beauty of Hamilton County and the cool fresh water beats anything. This stretch of Turket Creek in Florida is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, but you'd better
    reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is a very short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The put-in location is a short drive from Valdosta, there's a road
map further down the page with more info on that. The Jennings to Alapaha section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system.

While you're here at Turket Creek you will meet lots of people from close by Lake Park. A journey to Suwannee River State Park when you're here at Turket Creek is a splendid idea. Turket Creek sees pretty high levels of precipitation. July is the month that gets
 
the most rain, and October on the other hand is the driest. During the warm months highs here at Turket Creek reach the 90's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 60's. All through the wintertime the highs are regularly in the 60's with temperatures at Turket Creek dipping down into the 30's through winter nights.
