the rapids are really cool, they aren't as big as i expected. They are tons of fun if you have a kayak! It's a rather small section of white water. But there is a trail along the side of the river so u can keep going and going. cheers:sammy shepard Says sammy shepard
I am a lady of 39 years of age and rowed the Swannee when I was a teen. I can not tell you how many times I have spoken about my experience! I treasure this experience so much. We were a group of about 10 and camped and had a great time. Nature taught us from young to respect what
God has given us...I thank those counsellors who introduced us to the other side of life and getting fresh air and making making life worth knowing about and respecting. Enjoy the river! I am a native Floridian and I love my state! Welcome and please pick up after yourselves and
keep the litter where it needs to be...remember yogi ;) Says Susan
The starting point is not too far from Lake City, as you can see on the road map further down. The natural beauty of Florida and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. The campgrounds here at Suwannee River are pretty good. This stretch of Suwannee River is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. This
is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set.
