The Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area to SR 337 section of Allen Creek in Walker County is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class V section of whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often tougher than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. Not too     many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area to SR 337 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Allen Creek. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. Throughout   the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 40's; after the sun is down all through the wintertime temperatures at Allen Creek plunge into the 20's. This is such a great river. You might want to pay a visit to Jones Gap since you're here at Allen Creek, and Allen Creek is not far at all from Summerville. A cool spot to visit close to Allen Creek is Huckleberry Point; do put some time aside to spend at Lumpkin Spring while you're here at Allen Creek.
