The scenic beauty of Douglas County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so don't forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. This is a short paddling stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and     over. Annewakee River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Anneewakee Road to GA Route 166 section is the only one. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch of Annewakee River in Georgia is 3.5 miles long and is a class II-III+(IV) section of whitewater according to American Whitewater.
