CLASS V 3 miles
The starting location is a reasonable drive from Chattanooga, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This section of Bear Creek in Georgia is 3 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature have people coming
from far and near. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The nature scenery of Georgia and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water have people coming here. This is a pretty short section so you'd better be prepared to walk
your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots.
Briefly about the general area: Little Mans Gulch is right next door to Bear Creek and is beyond doubt a good site to stop at; don't leave Bear Creek without first paying a visit to Whiteoak Spring. and October is the month with the least moisture. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Bear Creek. Summer night lows fall down to the 60's. High temperatures throughout the wintertime are normally in the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Bear Creek sink into the 20's.
