Highway 129 to Canyon View Road takeout section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS V 3 miles
The put-in location is a short drive from Chattanooga, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Bear Creek in Georgia is 3 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your
car. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Highway 129 to Canyon
View Road takeout section is the only paddling section along Bear Creek. The scenic beauty of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here.
