Georgia whitewater - Bear Creek, Dade County Dade county, Highway 129 to Canyon View Road takeout section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS V     3 miles   The nature scenery of Dade County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in is not too far from Chattanooga, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. There are nice comfortable hotels here, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This section     is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are no other stretches to paddle along Bear Creek than the Highway 129 to Canyon View Road takeout stretch. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good places for that around here. This stretch of Bear Creek is 3 miles long and is a class V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. Briefly about the general area: Summer at Bear Creek comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 60's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 40's; after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Bear Creek drop into the 20's. Little Mans Gulch is a   wonderful place to explore, and Whiteoak Spring is always fun to check out. Bear Creek sees pretty high levels of rain; all through the month of March you get the most rain around here while October is mostly the driest month.
