Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Georgia are harder than the national norm, so don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Athens-Clarke County, as you can see on the road map further down. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because     these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling section along Big Clouds Creek. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The nature scenery of Georgia and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Briefly about the general area: Big Clouds Creek is a wet site that gets a great deal of rain; March is the month that gets the most rain, and September on the other hand is the driest. Watson Shoals is an inspiring site to pop by during your stay. At Big Clouds Creek through the summertime highs are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 60's.   The wintertime brings highs down to the 50's, and overnight lows at Big Clouds Creek during the wintertime typically plunge into the 20's.
