Fulton
county,
Grimes Bridge Road to Vickery Creek Park section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS I-III(V+) 2 miles
The average whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master in this state than those in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The Grimes Bridge Road to Vickery Creek Park section of Big Creek is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-III(V+) section. The beautiful scenery of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. Big Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Grimes Bridge Road to Vickery Creek Park
section is the only one. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling spots. If you're coming from Atlanta-Sandy Springs-Marietta it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, as you can see on the
road map further down. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more.
