The starting location is a reasonable drive from Macon, as you can see on the road map further down. This section of Big Sandy Creek in Georgia is 0.51 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. There are some good hotels near the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This is the only paddling stretch along Big Sandy Creek. This is a very short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the water flowing
gracefully down Big Sandy Creek are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Georgia is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're
