The Chief McIntosh Lake to GA 42 stretch of Big Sandy Creek is 0.51 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water will make you feel great. If you're coming from Macon it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are sure to keep you coming back for more. There are campgrounds quite
near the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. This stretch is very short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. There are many
good hotels to choose from, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
