county,
Chief McIntosh Lake to GA 42 section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 0.51 miles
This section of Big Sandy Creek is 0.51 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Macon, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Georgia are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The nature scenery of Georgia and the cool fresh water attract people from near and far. Lodging is available
near the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch is very short so better bring some good walking shoes. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around
here. The Chief McIntosh Lake to GA 42 stretch is the only paddling stretch along Big Sandy Creek. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
