The to Dicks Creek stretch of Blood Mountain Creek in Georgia is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Georgia scenery and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature have a lot of people coming here. This stretch is very short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. Blood Mountain Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the to Dicks Creek stretch is the only one. The campgrounds
here at Blood Mountain Creek are pretty good. The starting location is a reasonable drive from Gainesville, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no
problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. The river winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains and you get great scenery. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.

Ridge Mountains. Do schedule some time to pop by Blood Mountain Cove near Blood Mountain Creek if you have a chance, and why not take a refreshing hike along the DeSoto Falls Trail. While staying at Blood Mountain Creek you could always discover Ground Squirrel Gap; Blood Mountain
