Georgia whitewater - Blood Mountain Creek, Blue Ridge Mountains, Lumpkin County
Lumpkin
county,
to Dicks Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-V 1 miles
This section of Blood Mountain Creek is 1 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. The average Georgia whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. The starting point is not too far from Gainesville, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The Blue Ridge Mountains scenery is wonderful. The natural
beauty of Georgia and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. This is an extremely short stretch so you'll have to walk back to the start over and over. Blood Mountain Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the to Dicks Creek stretch is the only one. You might
have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people.
