If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The natural beauty of Georgia and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. The starting location is a short drive from Gainesville, as you can see on the road map further down. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem
but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. The beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains is a great plus for this river. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. This is a very short
section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. There are no other sections to paddle along Blood Mountain Creek than the to Dicks Creek section. This stretch of Blood Mountain Creek in Georgia is 1 miles long and it is classified as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling rivers.
Briefly about the general area: There is a fine hiking trail next to Blood Mountain Creek called the Black Mountain Trail,
and do schedule some time to take a look at Blood Mountain Cove if you have a chance. This is such a great river. Blood Mountain Creek sees pretty high levels of rainfall; March is the wettest month with most rain, and October meanwhile is the driest month. This place, the
