This stretch of Cartecay River in Georgia is 8 miles long and is a class I-II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, good for a one day paddling trip. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you'll find lots of paddling rivers. The beautiful scenery of Gilmer     County and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The GA Route 52 to Lower Cartecay Road stretch is one of a few paddling stretches in this river system. A good workout and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. There are some good hotels near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
